Tiger Burgers

Tiger Burgers are my variation of sliders, those little hamburgers that you get to eat lots of because they are so small or at least you tell yourself that anyway.  These are called Tiger Burgers because I use a brand of hot sauce called Tiger Sauce. Clever aren't I?  It is from Louisiana but I was able to find it locally at Publix Supermarkets here in Atlanta.  Now, if you are not particularly fond of hot sauce, I guess you are out of luck or perhaps you can omit the sauce and call them Kitty Burgers...

Here are the lucky ingredients:

Tiger Burgers

1 pound ground beef (I used 93% lean)
1 clove garlic
1/3 cup chopped Vidalia onion
2 teaspoons butter
Salt and Pepper to taste
Cheddar Cheese slices
Tiger Sauce
Roma Tomatoes
Baby Greens Lettuce
8 yeast rolls (I used Sister Schubert's Frozen Yeast Rolls)
1 tablespoon butter
Additional condiments - catsup, mustard, onion, relish

Form 8 patties from the ground beef.  Use a food processor to chop garlic and onion.  Melt butter on a griddle or skillet.  Add the onions and garlic.  Cook over medium heat until slightly softened.  Press patties into the onions and garlic on the skillet.  Add salt and pepper to taste.  Flip burgers when browned on one side.  Cook several minutes longer flipping as necessary to desired doneness.  Add cheddar cheese slices.  Meanwhile melt the 1 tablespoon of butter in another skillet.  Cut the buns and grill insides.  When meat and bread are done, it is time to assemble the burgers.  Place the bottom bun on a plate and top with hamburger patty.  Shake hot sauce on the cheese.  Add tomatoes, lettuce and other desired condiments.  Enjoy.

Step I - Here is the griddle of onions.  It  looks like snow on the road but since we are in Atlanta, you can be assured that it is indeed onions on a skillet.

Step 2 - When the onions are softened, smash the hamburgers into the onions so the onions will stick to the meat.  You can scoot the hamburgers around to gather up the spare bits of onions.  Looks like I have some scooting to do.

Step 3 - Toast the buns.  I just flipped these up to see the toasted sides otherwise they just  looked like English Muffins. They smell buttery-wonderful.  The package come with 10 rolls.  No one will notice if you toast a spare bun for some snacking.  I put peach preserves on my contraband bun.  Would you call that a "contrabun?"

Step 4 - Load it up and enjoy.  Don't forget the Tiger Sauce.  No wimpy kitty burgers around here!
