Shhhhh...It's a Surprise!
The emails had been flying for a month. We were all nervous that we would be the one to spill the beans. But it worked! We actually gave a surprise party for our dear friend, Joanna, and she didn't know about it!
Fifty roses for fifty years! Frankly my dear, you do not look fifty! And I'm glad you don't feel fifty either!

So let's back up and I'll tell you how the party went down....We met at Terri's to get decorated for our dinner. We had some appetizers and got the party started. Lots of gifts, food, and fun. Next, we headed to the rendezvous point. The three giant ladies in the back had to wait in the house -- no shirt, no shoes, no service. We didn't figure they would fit in the car anyway.

We gathered at Manuel's Tavern in Atlanta. Joanna's husband brought her to us. She was truly surprised or at least it looked like it. What do you think? I'm thinking surprised.

We put on our best tacky diva-wear to greet the birthday girl. Then, we had a quick beverage and headed back to the house.

Roxieeeeee. Get back over here. Your evil twin is getting jealous.

Roxie returned and we went back to Terri's for a delicious dinner of spinach and strawberry salad, stuffed chicken breasts, Italian roast beef, pasta et frommage, and green beans. Oh, and cake, too.
Triple tossed salad by Kim. Look at the muscles in those forearms! Coming soon...The Spinach Salad Upper Body Workout Tape. Find it soon at your local video store.

Dinner is served, and consumed, and cleared away.

By now you may be thinking..."Just what was the theme for this little shindig?" Keeping you in suspense no longer... it was Fuschia. (And after these next two pictures you're probably thinking "Well, I can tell that good taste and refinement was certainly not the theme.") Here are some custom gifts for the birthday girl.

Time for cake.
The bystanders look a little apprehensive about all those candles and no fire extinguisher on hand.

Yay me! I get my wish (and the bystanders are flooded with relief and no longer looking for the exit.)

Candle carcasses. 51 to be exact. (50 plus "one to grow on")

I feel like I'm the neighbor from the tv show "Home Improvement" since all you can see are my eyes! But, when you get 8 out of 9 people looking good in a picture, you have to go with it. Leave it to the birthday girl and her big crown to hog the photo! She's forgiven on this special day. Anyway, I kind of like my green mustache. It goes with my eyes.

Happy Birthday, Joanna! We love you, and the giant girls do, too!
