Earth Day in Peachtree City

We went to two of the three nature areas preserved by the Southern Conservation Trust. The first was the Flat Creek Nature Area and then we went to the Line Creek Nature Area. Both are located in Peachtree City, GA and although they are only minutes from each other, they are completely different natural habitats.
We walked through a pine wood to get to the Flat Creek Nature Area boardwalk.
The boardwalk goes over a wetlands area. I was so enthralled by all the beauty around me I didn't take any pictures of the actual boardwalk itself. I guess I'll have to go back for that. Just think looooong deck with all these pictures I am about to show you on either side of it.
There were a few flowers blooming, but not many.
We did see some evidence of animals. This bird nest...
...and this snake track...
...and this spider web.
There were quite a few birch trees. Don't you just want to reach out a snag a piece of bark? Tempting, but I resisted.
On the way out we saw this interesting area of water that had been dyed brown by the leaves. The dark water and layer of decaying leaves made the water extremely reflective.
Next we went to the Line Creek Nature Area. It is about 5 minutes away. This area is known for its granite shoals on Line Creek.
The water is very shallow here because of the shoals but only minutes downstream, the creek is listed as a white water rafting area that many people come to for adventure close to Atlanta.

The turtles enjoy a more leisurely pace upstream.
This is a "He Loves Me Not." Of course that's not really the flower name, but if you started pulling the petals with "He Loves Me," you will end up with a negative response to your affections. Who needs that?
Line Creek is also known for its beautiful wild azaleas.
When leaving this nature area, you will come across this pond. One last image to savor.
