Peas
Fresh peas out of the garden are about one of the best tastes of summer.

Canned peas out of the pantry rank right up there as one of the worst tastes in any season.
Frozen peas are a nice compromise when you don't have a garden full of the fresh ones.
Try this recipe for creamed peas. You can make it in about 10 minutes and it is an elegant side to any meal.
Creamed Peas
2 cups frozen green peas
1 tablespoon minced onion
2/3 cup water
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup half and half or heavy cream
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon granulated sugar (or less, to taste)
In a medium saucepan, combine peas, onions, water, and salt. Bring to a boil; add butter. In a small bowl, whisk together cream, flour, and sugar. Stir mixture into peas. Cook over medium heat until thick and bubbly, about 3-5 minutes.
Step one: Boil the peas, onions, and salt. Add the butter.

Step 2: Whisk together the flour, cream, and sugar. Add this mixture to the peas.

Step 3: Enjoy your creamed peas. Easy as that!
