Wild Roses

"Love is much like a wild rose, beautiful and calm, but willing to draw blood in its defense." Mark Overby

My son went to a Shakespearean play with some friends tonight in Atlanta. I decided that I couldn't let him soak up all that culture by himself.  So here are some pictures of the wild roses that grow in a corner of my yard with some quotes about roses.

"The rose is a flower of love.  The world has acclaimed it for centuries. Pink roses are for love hopeful and expectant.  White roses are for love dead or forsaken, but the red roses, ah the red roses are for love triumphant." unknown

"The bee is more honored than other animals, not because she labors, but because she labors for others." St. John Chrysostom  (And yes I did risk my very own life sticking my face down into the flower to capture this photo.)

"What's in a name?  That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."  William Shakespeare

"For each thorn, there is a rosebud...for each twilight - a dawn...for each trial - the strength to carry on.  For each stormcloud - a rainbow...for each shadow - the sun...for each parting - sweet memories when sorrow is done."  Ralph Waldo Emerson
