GA Tech and The Varsity
My son went to the Paul Hewitt Basketball Camp this week at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Can you see him?

Actually, with a few hints you can spot him pretty easily. He is on the left and wearing a gold shirt.

Here he is!

Georgia Tech is smack in the middle of downtown Atlanta. In fact, the area is called Midtown.

Beautiful view of the Atlanta skyline, right? What is even better is that this view is from their amazing Campus Recreation Center (CRC) and this is what you get to look at while you are getting your workout!

They need a great place to workout because next to GA Tech you will find an Atlanta classic, The Varsity.

The Varsity is the world's largest drive-in restaurant. You can still be served in your car...

...or eat in the skywalk...

...or eat in one of the many rooms off of the ordering area. The men and women behind the counter greet you with a loud "What'll ya have?" and you better be ready with your order!

I ordered a cheeseburger, onion rings, and...

...a chocolate shake.

My onion rings looked like one of those Navajo dream catchers. I guess I shouldn't eat it and just hang it over my bed tonight to catch all my bad dreams about clogged arteries and high cholesterol!!!

Here is the view from my table. Since it was 95 degrees outside and I didn't really want to sit in my car, I ate inside at the end of the skywalk.

This is the front door although most people come in the back because of the parking. The Varsity is on North Avenue next to Interstates 75/85.

If you have read this blog for a while, you know that I like to take pictures of the metal grates on the streets. This is one commemorating the 1996 Olympics held in Atlanta.

If you've never been to The Varsity, it is worth a stop. If you've already been, well then you know it's worth another stop!
