Chips and Dip

Chips and Dip

I unpacked my basket from the concert and was thrilled with my chips and dip platter.

I had to make a dip tonight, of course. I wanted to give it a test run. Are you a dip person or a flavored chip person?

I am definitely a dip person.  I think it goes back to my childhood and my parents’ Saturday night card parties.  They often would gather with other couples (Allcorns, Fullers, Cales, Cottons, and Waycasters to name a few) to play cards and games.  I can remember that all the kids were relegated to the basement with our kid table of food.  It usually consisted of M&M’s, cookies, and Bugles.

The teens in the ad are a little more sophisticated than we were at their Bugle party.  We pretty much just put them on the ends of our fingers and ran around screaming and clawing at each other.  This gives you an idea why we were sent to the basement.

At the parent snack table were the mixed nuts, chips and dip (SNYDERS!!!!)  and a cheeseball with Triscuits – all apparently very adult.  They also had little gherkin pickles slathered in cream cheese and wrapped in ham and then sliced.  Another adult table only food was the fermented fruit compote that they ate over ice cream.  They could keep that for themselves as far as I was concerned.  Rotten fruit on ice cream? No thanks. I’ll enjoy my foray into adulthood with the dip.  No use pushing it.

Good memories of playing in the basement with our beloved bugles on our finger tips. There is no other way to have bugles. Love the chip and dip tray!
