Even though Dragon Con has been in Atlanta since 1987, I went to my first one last weekend.
Both Davis and Olivia and friends went with me and I also met my friend Joanna to “help” out with their booth. And by help I mean watch Joanna sell ice to Eskimos. She is the best!
Joanna and her husband, Mike, have an online steampunk apparel and accessory store called Milton’s Emporium. We had fun fitting people with corsets and other accessories. Joanna had the distinct pleasure of fitting the nearly-naked-except-for-bandaids-and-a-thong Mad Max girl. Try to get that image out of your head.
It was a huge crowd in Atlanta with lots of crazy costumes for a really fun day.
I almost forgot the BattleBots. Those were a hit for Alec and Davis. (And no, that’s not Alec and Davis behind the BattleBot. I didn’t get a photo of them at all.)
Two of the Baby Birds (Joanna’s daughter Jennie and Olivia) preferred the corsets to the heavy machinery.
I enjoyed the wonderful surprise that arrived for me 2 days later from Joanna for helping at the booth. She found my favorite emoticon, Mr.Poopie. He’s a supersoft pillow. The only question is where to display my new treasure.
He seems equally happy wherever I place him.
Maybe the bench in the hall?
He landed in my bed or should I say plopped on my pillow. Too graphic?
He’s a great souvenir of a fun day with friends and family. Looking forward to my next Dragon Con already.
Julie. You need to quit teaching and write for a living. You are too funny!!!
You crack me up! Maybe I might inherit Mr. Poopie or win him one day in a heated game of RLC
Gasp! I could never part with Mr. Poopie! You will have to be satisfied with more decorative lambs or even a mouse cowgirl.
I have a feeling we will never see Mr. Poopie in our RLC white elephant bags! Looks like you girls and your families had a great day!
I read that 62,000 went to Dragon Con but that one picture looks like it was hard to even move around!
