Hooray! I'm Purty Smart!!!

Hooray! I’m Purty Smart!!!

Guess where I went tonight.

z4

Cracker Barrel.  Isn’t it great to get a meal and an IQ test all in one sitting?

z2

Always ordered with oranges and cream soda. How do they make it taste like oranges AND cream? What delicious chemicals am I drinking?

z5

My seat was perfect.  It was right under the flute!

z8

We went out to eat tonight because I worked all afternoon cleaning my screened porch. The pollen was crazy thick as usual in April.

z10

The pillows are drying and I’ll show a picture when it is finally cleaned. I’m almost done.  I just have to let the floor dry and then put on a coating of floor wax. Cleaning the porch is a yearly job that I dread. This year I used my pressure washer.  Typically I just hose it down.  The pressure washer takes it to a whole new level of clean which then shows every area which isn’t at that “whole new level of clean” so it was a bigger job this year. Then, twice…not once…  I accidentally sprayed each foot with the pressure washer.  PAIN and agony!

I’m flashing back in time even further today to right before I went out to clean.  I saw a suspicious lump in my curtains.

z3

It was kitty. When people come, he hides.

z9

One of the people who came for the weekend was Olivia’s crepe-making Amelie-watching roommate Ashley.  She’s a keeper.

z12

And finally I bring you back full circle to my original photos from Cracker Barrel.  On the way home we saw  this sign apparently left by Captain Obvious.    Cracked us up and worth a photo!  (Was Shel Silverstein here, too?)

Where the Sidewalk Ends

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
and before the street begins,
and there the grass grows soft and white,
and there the sun burns crimson bright,
and there the moon-bird rests from his flight
to cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
and the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
we shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow
and watch where the chalk-white arrows go
to the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
and we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
for the children, they mark, and the children, they know,
the place where the sidewalk ends.
