Christmas Cactus

Christmas Cactus

This schlumbergera (apparently the real but seldom used name of the Christmas cactus named for the French Botanist Frédéric Schlumberger) started out as a gift to me with about 3 scraggly strands 5 years ago.  It apparently loves this sunny spot between my two chairs and has been thriving there.

The flowers grow within flowers and hang upside down.

I also like the multiple shading of the flowers within the plant.

So nice to have these gorgeous blooms in the middle of winter.
