Ever since Olivia could write, she expressed herself in poetry. She is currently a creative writing major in college and was recognized last week for her poetry.
We received a letter stating that she would be receiving an award at their honors convocation but we weren’t told which award.
We decided to eat with Olivia in the campus dining hall before the convocation. She agreed but gave us strict guidelines for parental behavior before entering. Stare straight ahead, do not interact with students, and do not eat the Mongolian beef, to name a few. We were at risk of being banished from all future events if we did not pass this test.
Whew. We made it through the meal without punitive action! All was well at D-Hall. We ate with Olivia’s amazing roommate Ashley and their fabulous friend Madison. Davis will be joining this trio at Berry next year for college, too.
After dinner we went upstairs to the ballroom for the awards ceremony.
We will be seeing Poet Laureate after your name one day, I’m sure!
