Sour Cream Drop Biscuits are little, golden biscuit gems. This tender and moist biscuits melts in your mouth and is the perfect choice for a Southern Brunch. I make a double batch of these because they don’t last long when served alongside grits, bacon, and eggs. With only three ingredients, they are so very easy to make at a moment’s notice.
Sour Cream Drop Biscuits are a Crowd Favorite
I have memorized this recipe. My memory aid is 2 = 1+ 1 for 2 cups self rising flour, 1 cup butter, 1 cup sour cream. This way if I go on vacation to a beach rental or on a weekend getaway with friends, I have a quick and easy recipe to add to the table. You can also add 3/4 cheddar cheese and if you’re really feeling adventurous, toss in some minced onion or chives. I think dill would be a good addition but I haven’t tried it yet.
Biscuit Bus Fare
If you have read the blog for long, you know one of my life dreams is to own a food truck called The Biscuit Bus. Sour Cream Drop Biscuits would definitely be a headliner on the menu. I make homemade jam and jelly and pairing these biscuits with blackberry jam is the perfect combination. Jam will definitely be a side when I serve these from the Bus.
As much as I enjoy fancy or difficult recipes, I often find myself coming back to simple goodness and easy fixes. Sour Cream Drop Biscuits are the ultimate comfort food that is quick and oh-so-simple to make. It will take longer for your butter to come to room temperature than it will to make these biscuits. As I write this, I am glancing impatiently at the butter on the counter. As soon as the butter cooperates, I will be baking a batch of these tasty little gems.
Love these. Old southern favorite. Buttery yummy goodness. I put mine in a big muffin pan. My grandmother dropped these by a healing tablespoon full in a cast iron skillet. Definitely a favorite!!
