Chocolate Chip Biscuits

Chocolate Chip Biscuits with Chocolate Gravy

Chocolate Chip Biscuits with Chocolate Gravy is the ultimate in decadence for a brunch or breakfast. I can’t think of another recipe that combines southern charm with elegance and most of all, deliciousness.  This recipe has it all.  As I have talked about in other biscuit recipes, I have an imaginary Biscuit Bus.  That’s the name of the food truck I would like to own.    I don’t currently own it and the reality is that I probably never will. But I’m fueling the dream.

Is Chocolate Gravy For Real?

Most of us associate gravy with meat drippings, but we are breaking the rules here.  Chocolate Chip Biscuits wouldn’t be complete without this creamy chocolate sauce drizzled all over the plate.  The gravy is easy to make and would go with ice cream or bread pudding, too.  You might even just chug it right from the pitcher.  (Don’t judge.  When you live alone you can do these things.)

Chocolate Chip Biscuits are a Favorite

I use my cast iron skillet to make my biscuits but any pan will do.  Fresh from scratch biscuits don’t even compare to frozen or canned biscuits so the time is now to practice your biscuit-making skills.  I love this recipe for Chocolate Chip Biscuits because it seems like a complicated recipe but it isn’t.  I’m all about easy.  In fact, if I could describe my cooking aspirations , it would be two “E’s.  Elegant but Easy.  I like to make interesting foods but I also don’t want to spend all day doing it.

If you do the math, you will eat about 100,000 meals in your life.  90 years old X 3 meals a day X 365 days in a year. If I spend an hour preparing my meal that’s 100,000 hours.  Divide that by 24 and I have spent over 4,000 of the days of my life cooking food.  My point is, use your cooking time wisely.  Make the biscuits!
